In today’s fast-paced world, it is not surprising that more adults have problems sleeping. A shocking 60% of adults worldwide report difficulty with some aspect of sleep, be that getting to sleep, staying asleep or waking up. And while the reasons for poor sleep are complex and multitudinous, one factor that consistently comes into play is unwanted noise.

Be it traffic outside or the snoring of a partner, intrusive sounds can wreak havoc with a good nights rest. A quarter of American couples report that their partner snores, with 25% reporting having to sleep in separate bedrooms. The problem has been difficult to solve with noise cancelling technology and earplugs. But headphone giant Bose have come up with an alternative, which theyre calling Noise Masking Sleepbuds.

Two small, in-ear headphones are included in the product. They can be worn in your ears during sleep. They are supposed to be almost invisible for maximum comfort. And rather than attempting to muffle or minimize noise disturbance, as noise cancelling earphones and earplugs before them, the Bose Sleepbuds aim replace the racket with soothing sounds. These are chosen with the specific aim of helping you fall asleep and, even more importantly, stay asleep.

Sleepbuds have a small rechargeable battery that can last for up to two nights. They also feature a soft yet firm seal at the eartips to keep out sounds. The combination of the sealing off of unwanted noise combined with the in-built relaxing sounds is what Bose claims will make their Sleepbuds so unique.

Bose claims they are fully customizable. They come in three sizes: small, medium, large and large. They promise to stay in your ear no matter how much you turn or toss.

You can further personalize your Sleepbud experience by changing the settings on the associated Sleepbud app. You can choose the soothing sound you prefer, set a wake-up alarm, and adjust the volume.

The noises have been specially selected by Bose some simply for their noise masking purpose, and others for relaxation.Six of the sounds are natural sounds like rain, wind, ocean waves and wind. The other four synthetic sounds are familiar sounds like a dehumidifier, a red noise, or a red light. The idea behind this is that the soothing sound should be louder than the disturbance so the brain and inner ear can’t distinguish the disturbing sound. Noise cancellation seeks to silence the ear canal and noise masking to quieten the mind.

Although most adults are aware of the importance and benefits of good nutrition and regular exercise, sleep is often forgotten. It is essential for both physical and mental well-being.Boses Noise Masking sleepbuds might be worth a look if you are suffering from insomnia due to noise disturbances.
